I spoke to a person who has worked within the food manufacturing, she wanted to stay anonymous. 

"I have worked within food  manufacturing for about five years. This has involved 
working for companies which supply McDonald's, KFC, Tesco and other high street supermarkets. 
I would never (and have never) eaten fast food since. The amount of unidentified ingredients, processes and most importantly - food hygiene. As much as food hygiene procedures were in place, these can not be controlled 24/7. How many men do you know that wash there hands after going to the toilet?"
